Sylvain Chomet’s The Illusionist

Any of you guys have seen this movie? It has great traditional animation. It’s called The Illusionist.

I’ve been racking my brain trying to figure out which is the best drawing and painting tool for me these couple days but haven’t made a solid decision.  If only there weren’t so many options out there this would be easier.  This one was done is Sketchbook Pro 6.  I love the clean interface and fun aspect of it but for some reason the zoom and brush resize and color pickers lag with my Bamboo tablet.  Does anyone have this issue?

Another quick test sketch in Manga studio (top)  and a sketch of a Juke care I saw parked at the Army Base.

So I finally got to play around with Manga Studio 5 and I’m pretty impressed at what they made it out to be.  The interface is very similar to Photoshop now so I can get around a lot easier than in Manga Studio 4 and since I’m familiar with PS.  They have a lot of great tools that PS doesn’t have.  One tool I love is the Paint Selection tool.  Instead of lassoing your way around and pressing shift key to add more, you can simply paint as much as you want until you’re done just like drawing with the paintbrush.  You can make straight lines with ease and if you want to bend it, you can do so on the spot!  Really great pens for good line work so I’m probably going to use this to do my line work from now on.  Check it out if you haven’t already.  This is a quick sketch test I did in it.  

Couple of sketches I did last night and today.  I may do something more to one of them in the future.

This was too hilarious.  I’ve had times similar to these before.

I had so much fun with the last Akuma drawing, I decided I’d make another “animation version” of him.

Got Ryu in there now.  Next time I will be rendering it little more and possibly adding background.
